Wilson's Fourteen Points

President Woodrow Wilson proposed Fourteen Points to help stop future wars and adjust a plan to last peace. One of the points were for countries to reduce the production of weapons. Since we are still in a war to this day, the production of guns and weapons have not decreased. We have been coming out with more deadly and harmful weapons. Another point of Wilson's was to allow freedom of the seas. Anyone was allowed to travel outside of the territorial waters but they could be closed. Wilson's tenth point was to allow the people of Austria-Hungary to have self-determination. He wanted them to decide for themselves on what government to live under. The ninth point was to readjustment the frontiers of Italy where they could clearly see the lines of nationality. I feel like the most effective point that would prevent war would be the the ninth point. I think that because they are trying to distinctly determine what is supposed to be given there. By making Italy prove what nationality was going to be in that country, no one was going to get it mixed up and everyone would be fully aware of what was going on in this country.

Political Cartoon

This cartoon shows Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany and a Mexican representative being tempted to get Mexico to join Germany against the United States in World War I. The cartoon is exaggerating the Kaiser and the Mexican representative by making it known on what they are like putting a sombrero on the Mexican and emphasizing that Kaiser Wilhelm is German by the German armor. I think that this is a very good comic. You can interrupt that by just getting into someones ear it can change their mind or make them re-think their opinion on the given situation. The Germans were always trying to be sneaky about everything so by Kaiser Wilhelm putting his hand over his mouth when he whispers is showing that he doesn't want anyone else to know about what he is trying to get across so no one can interfere with Mexico's answer.

Women during WWI

During World War I, women were never depended this much. The government turned to get help from every single girl. Men did all of the work outside of the home. They went to work in factories, on farms, even in offices but that soon changed. Once the men were sent to enlist, thousands of women were replaced in factories, offices, and did all of the jobs that men did. They had to build tanks, they plowed the fields on the farms, ran hospitals and made sure all of the troops were equipped with the basic essentials. (food, clothing and weapons) This changed how women were viewed. They weren't just looked at as the cook, maid and babysitter. They were now looked as handy women, and strong-willed. The war allowed them to take on new roles in society.

Armenian Genocide

The Armenian population was a group of people that fought end after end to gain their independence. The Turkish empire invaded the Armenian's homeland which led to years of rule by the Muslim Turks. As years passed by, Armenians were suckered into the Ottoman Empire. Many young Armenians were educated by the European universities and started to run for political roles. The Turkish Sultan was not in favor of that and started killing mass amounts of armenian citizens. The sultan days starting coming to an end, so a group of three young men, named the "Young Turkans" which seized full control of the government. They started forcing the armenians to follow all of the religious ways of being a turkan, they forced them to go against their culture and economic and political views. But the Young Turkans didn't care what they wanted, the glory was all for themselves. Soon after, World War I broke out the armenian people were abducted, tortured, deported, and starved. A great portion of the armenian people were sent to a desert where they were starved to death. They were put in concentration camps, it was estimated that one and a half million armenians were killed between the time of 1915-1918. That was a serious problem and isn't humane.

Whenever you read or see the word genocide, it is never a good feeling. Millions of people were killed. Most of the reasons why genocides occured was for the power. It is hard to believe that people can be this selfish when it comes to power. There is no reason for any of this stuff to happen. Killing mass amounts of people is not what any one would want and i dont know of anyone that thinks that genocides are good.
